Lauren Cobello » Budgeting » Frugal Living » 12 of the Best Money Saving Apps to Download
Saving money on the go is one of those things that makes my life more manageable. When teaching my couponing seminars, the #1 thing that I hear is that people don’t have time. Listen – I totally get it, I am a busy, working mom of four kids. Taking an extra hour in my week to spend clipping coupons is often just not happening, so I rely on easy tools to help me save anyways.
I wanted to put together a comprehensive list of the best money saving apps, these apps are free to download and can help you save a lot of money! I have separated them into categories: Saving on groceries, apps to compare prices, and apps to make extra money.
If you’re interested in apps that make money, you can check out the 4 best apps that PAY YOU here:
Apps that help you save on groceries:
1.) Fetch Rewards – Save time and money by discovering the very best deals and rock bottom prices for items in more than 65,000 grocery and drugstores nationwide. Favado tells you which store has the best deals to help you decide which stores to add to your errand list each week.
2.) Coupons.com App – You will need to download this app if you want to print coupons from your mobile device. It is free to download and you will need an HP printer to print them. See how I print my coupons from my iPhone here.
3.) Ibotta – After you have done your grocery shopping, keep your receipt handy. Scan your product receipt and earn money back on your purchases. Make sure that the store that you shop at is one of their approved stores, or else you will not receive your refund.
4.) Checkout 51 – Similar to Ibotta, this app is great for earning cash back on your purchases. The great part about this, is that it will work at ANY store. The Dollar Stores, Aldi, etc.
5.) SavingStar – Earn cash back at the grocery store with nothing to clip or print. You can redeem their grocery offers by linking them to your supermarket and drugstore loyalty cards or by submitting a picture of your receipt. SavingStar is known for their Healthy Offer of the Week, “One or Many” high value rewards, and Freebie Friday items.
6.) Cartwheel – A target savings app. This free app offers you great Target deals on food, clothing, toiletries and much more. This is a great app because you can stack the offers with manufacturer coupons, Target store coupons, and cash back rebates from Checkout51 or Ibotta.
7.) Savings Catcher – A Walmart app that gives you money back, if there is a lower price found. Simply scan your receipt, and if a local competitor has a lower advertised price, you get the difference back in a gift card.
8.) Price Jump – PriceJump by Savings.com is a price comparison service that utilizes real-time information on millions of products to find shoppers the lowest prices. Today’s marketplace is driven by Amazon’s complex and dynamic pricing ecosystem. On 500+ items Savings.com has been tracking, Amazon changes the price nearly every day. As retailers react and try undercut each other to woo the shopper, the absolute lowest price bounces around like crazy. Consumers looking for the best deal need to comparison shop, and Price Jump gives you the upper hand.
9.) Gas Buddy – Helps you find the cheapest gas prices in your current location. You can also earn points when you report a gas price at your local gas station.
10.) RedLaser – Scan a barcode with RedLaser and get the prices of that item at local stores, this helps you find the best price.
11.) QuickThoughts
This is the BEST for taking online surveys. It’s very well thought out… the developers clearly understood that your time is valuable and you don’t have time to search for surveys that you will be approved for. You will instantly see surveys you can take, most pay $1, some pay more and they are pretty quick. The smartphone integration honestly makes it a really smooth process. Plus – the payout threshold is only $10, so you can cash out quickly and often!
Download QuickThoughts
12.) Swagbucks – You can download the Swagbucks app for FREE on both Android and iOS devices. You can then play videos in the background throughout your day! You can earn an additional 50 Swagbucks per day through watching videos through the app.

[…] The Dollar General app is one of my favorite money saving apps – here is a list of 12 of the best money saving apps. […]
I use Yaarlo and Coupon Sherpa.
What about ebates and checking RetailMeNot app for coupon codes?
I LOVE Ebates. Everytime I order online, I use this app. It has added to my debt pay down nicely.
WikiBuy and Honey for online shopping.
Wow, Fetch Rewards didn’t make it? Scan the receipts from grocery stores and things they want and earn points for gift cards including Visa prepay, Amazon and others.
I like Swagbucks but it feels a bit time consuming.
1Q gives 25 cents per completed mini-survey (1-3 questions), but sometimes surveys are in dry spells. It kept asking me to go to the Tractor Supply in this dodgy plaza where the druggies hang out. I waited the expiry on those and shot customer service on that an email telling them TS in town isn’t safe for a lone woman to visit.
Panel App is a quiet little app that asks occasional questions about my trips and shop runs and awards points. It does its thing quietly and lets you know when it has questions to answer for earning points. I’m almost to 10,000 points which is $5 credit for Google Play, Amazon, Paypal so far.
GOOGLE OPINION REWARDS! Earn google play credit. Now it asks for store receipts to earn more Play Store credit than just the occasional survey. First time user gets a $1 credit after 1st survey.
