Lauren Cobello » Budgeting » Frugal Living » How to find inspiration to decorate on a tight budget
I mentioned that I am re-decorating my dining room in my dollar store re-decorating post last week. We are still in the process of completing it, but so far we have painted our paneling and have painted some furniture.
Just to remind you, this is what it looked like before we moved the kids playroom into that back room. I am SO excited to have my dining room table back soon!
I always need to find inspiration for a room, it actually helps me stay within my budget! If you are decorating on a budget, I highly recommend finding a statement price for that room, then work around that piece and save as much money as you can on those elements.
As I was searching for inspiration for my dining room I found the perfect rug to put in there! It gave me the inspiration and color scheme I was looking for.
This is the complete pattern of the area rug, don’t you love it? It is from Mohawk Flooring and you can find their rugs at many different retailers like Lowe’s and Home Depot, or online at Mohawkflooring.com.
When the area rug arrived I was very pleased with the quality of it. It is very lush and you can tell it’s great quality!
The color scheme I am going for in the room is all found in this rug. I found an old dresser that I turned into a buffet table. I used a tealish/green to paint that and a few of my dining room chairs. We pulled our wall color out of the rug as well as our accent pieces.
I can’t wait to share the entire room with you, but we are still working on it!
I can just say that it is going to be AMAZING!!!
Disclosure: When I found this rug online, I contacted Mohawk Flooring and asked if they would be willing to send me the rug free of charge to include in the design of my dining room. They said YES, I said WOO-HOO! So this rug was free from them and I am so thankful for an amazing company to work with!
