Printing a lot of coupons can get expensive, especially if you have the wrong kind of printer. I’ve received questions from readers about how to save on printer ink, so I thought I would give you my tip on how to save money on printer ink.
I used to have a cheap HP printer that I bought for around $30 at Walmart, it was a color printer and with the amount of coupons I print, I was spending $20 a month on ink cartridges. I decided to start looking around for a good printer that would print in Black and White and save me money on ink cartridges. I decided on a Brother Laser Printer, which you can buy for around $80.00 on Amazon. I’ve had it for three years and replaced the toner cartridges four times – each cartridge is between $20 and $40, so that is a HUGE savings!
I prefer to buy generic toner for my printer, you can find it for a quarter of the cost. I buy my toner from Amazon using gift cards from Swagbucks most of the time. The generic toner TN360 New Compatible Cartridge costs no more than $20 and it should print 5,000 pages.
Staples will also help you recycle your ink cartridges, giving you money back by Rebate Check at the end of the month. You simply bring your old ink cartridge into the store, they will scan your Staples card and send you a check per ink cartridge in the mail at the end of the month.
Many grocery stores will also refill your ink cartridges for cheap. My local Price Chopper will refill your ink cartridge for around $10, which is usually half the price of what you would pay at Walmart.
What are some ways that you save on ink or toner?
